Welcome

Hari Om!

Anahata fig treeWelcome to another edition of Anahata Dharana. In this issue our theme is expansion and growth. We’ve been keeping very busy up here on the hill, as well as around New Zealand and the world!

While Swami Satsangi has had to postpone her visit and will not be able to join us in 2011, this has still been the stimulus for much growth, many infrastructure improvements, and a general refreshing of the grounds here at Anahata. Check out the Anahata News section for all the info!

We hope to be welcoming Swami Satsangi here soon, but in the meantime preparing for this event has proved to be a wonderful opportunity to bring together the New Zealand, Australia and wider Satyananda Yoga community. Over the past year we have worked together and held many fundraisers and promotion events which have strengthened our ties with local communities, particularly in Nelson and Takaka. We have also built a relationship with the local Maori communities who have been extremely welcoming, and the Anahata Yoga Health and Education Trust has been increasing its activities supporting local and international projects.

The Nurturing Positivity event held over the Easter weekend proved to be a wonderful culmination of everyone’s efforts as we came together to create a beautiful energy here at Anahata, led by the wisdom and uplifting energy of Swami Atmamuktananda and Swami Muktidharma. This is also a very significant step for the New Zealand Satyananda Yoga community as well as Anahata’s evolution, as we now know we are able to work together to host larger events. Check out the Events News section of the newsletter for a more detailed report on the event!

At Anahata we have continued to evolve our focus, as well as that of our guests and participants, by offering longer, more intensive, sadhana courses for people who wish to go deeper and really immerse themselves in yoga and the ashram lifestyle. We’re very pleased that Swami Gyan Dharma will return again in late 2011 to lead three one-month Explore Yourself Intensive retreats, while Swamis Muktidharma and Karma Karuna are leading the annual India retreat. Check out the India and International sections of the newsletter for a report on the annual India retreat and their world tours. In these sections we also have a special report from Swami Muktidharma’s inspiring trip to South Africa, an update on significant happenings at the source of our tradition in Rikhia, India, plus in the Special Report section, a report on the Abhishek of Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati.

Swami Satsangi shares her experiences with mantra and Swami Muktidharma expands on the theme of Inner Growth in the Feature section.  This issue also includes some inspiring stories in the Living Yoga section from people who have stayed with us for a while, Practical Tools for integrating mantra into your daily life, and a delicious recipe for you to enjoy. We hope you’ll take the opportunity to reconnect with yourself and re-commit to your own spiritual evolution and growth!
