SPANISH RETREAT IN INDIA
Swami Muktidharma has just spent three weeks in India at the heart of the Satyananda tradition, teaching on the annual Spanish retreat. The retreat started in Munger where the group of thirty students from Spain, Argentina and Colombia had the opportunity to hear Swami Niranjanananda’s satsang series. Swamiji explained the essence of the Bhagavad Gita, giving light on the scripture which talks about the practices that Krishna gave to Arjuna to face difficult circumstances in the battlefield. He connected these practices with the yogic tools pratyahara, dharana, karma yoga, nadi shodhana pranayama, vairagya and viveka which help one find balance and accomplish necessary actions in life.
From Munger the group travelled by bus to Rikhia, to reach there one day before Sivaratri, which is the most powerful celebration of Shiva in India and commemorates the union of consciousness and energy. Here the principles of knowing and performance come together to represent the highest realization in existence. The presence of Swami Niranjan and Swami Satsangi made this an especially commemorative event. After Sivaratri the ten day course “Mantra, Yantra and Mandala, the tools of Tantra” began. This was a very successful sadhana course, with highlights being the productions of a ten square metre Sri Yantra on the lawn of the Patanjali University, and three inspiring satsangs given by Swami Satsangi where she shared her indepth knowledge on the topic of Tantra.
Sannyasin Shivachaitanya, a participant on the course, shares his reflections of his experience at Rikhia:
"Our program in Rikhia was very intensive. We began at 5am with asanas and pranayama conducted by Sannyasin Atmarekha. Then we had sessions of theory and meditations with Swami Muktidharma, followed by karma yoga. We also had three Satsangs with Swami Satsangi, and every day we attended the programs of the ashram.
During the course we made a Sri Yantra conducted by Sannyasin Muktidhyanam in the garden of Patanjali Ashram of 144 square meters. This was a very enjoyable practice, and a great sadhana as people were very concentrated while making the Sri Yantra. Another wonderful practice was to sing the Saundarya Lahari in the mornings at 5am. Swami Satsangi spoke to us about this wonderful text of Adi Shankaracharya."
