Newsletter November 2012
Welcome to another edition of Anahata Dharana. The theme of this edition is ‘Being Present’, and there are a number of articles and suggestions throughout this newsletter to inspire and give you ideas for cultivating presence in your own life.
Learning to be present and increasing our awareness helps remove a lot of the stress of life and enables us to experience a more relaxed state of being. You can read about the link between awareness and relaxation in an article by Swami Muktidharma in the Features section. Also well worth a read is Living Yoga which gives two accounts from people who have stayed at Anahata for different periods of time who share their experiences and what they have learnt about being present.
With spring here, we are coming out of the quieter winter months and gearing up to host more retreats and guests over summer. Winter has given us a chance to work on projects to further improve the facilities at Anahata. We have been busy spring cleaning, painting, renovating and getting the garden ready to plant. Read about new developments in the expansion of Anahata in Anahata News, including Anahata going on air. Representatives of Anahata Trust have also been busy in the community promoting the benefits of yoga and its therapeutic applications. Find out more about the current projects of the trust in the Anahata Trust Section.
Autumn at Anahata was very full and vibrant with many people enjoying the varied retreats we hosted from the annual Nurturing Positivity to the new Family Yoga Retreat. One of the gifts of living at Anahata is meeting such a wonderful array of people that come to experience the special environment created at Anahata and learn about living a more conscious lifestyle through yoga. Recently we were visited by a group from Japan that came to do a week retreat on Nada Yoga (yoga of sound) and Ashram Living. Check out Event News to find out more about what has been happening at Anahata and around New Zealand over the last months, as well as to see what we have in store for the upcoming months. We welcome back Swami Gyan Dharma to Anahata as the resident swami while Swami Muktidharma and Swami Karma Karuna are in India leading the annual Anahata India Retreats in Munger and Rikhia, at the heart of Satyananda Yoga.
Swami Muktidharma spent time in India in the middle of this year, and got to participate in Guru Poornima celebrations. You can read about his experience in the India section. You can also catch up on news of Swami Muktidharma’s time teaching in Canada earlier this year in the International section.
Practical Tools shares some good practices for bringing more presence into life. In the Products Section, find some useful resources to support your yoga practice, including Swami Karma Karuna’s new "Yoga for Women" CD which is already available for pre-orders and due to be released next month. And treat your family and friends to a simple and delicious loaf recipe in the Yogic Diet.
We hope you find this edition full of inspiration and interesting information to support your own personal practice. Be sure to return to Anahata soon to replenish and recharge, or meet us somewhere else on our travels.
