Newsletter November 2012
This year Swami Muktidharma visited Canada for a few weeks in May. He was invited by ‘Awareness Yoga’ to present seminars on the 'Science of Yoga and Tantra' on the banks of the Elora river. Students came from different parts of Canada and the U.S.A and learnt to utilise the ancient therapeutic tools of mantra (sound vibration) and yantra (corresponding geometrical forms). During the weekend, the children of Awareness Yoga performed a dance to MC Yogi for more than 60 attendees inspired by Chandra Shakti (age 11) who got the idea after meeting the Kanyas (girls) of Rikhia whilst taking part in the 2011 annual Anahata India Retreats.
In 2013 Swami Muktidharma is planning to return to Canada for a one month tour, including a 1 week Prana Vidya course in the Tortonto area. Over the last few years, Swami Muktidharma has been regularly visiting Canada, sharing the teachings of the Satyananda Yoga tradition and gradually helping to spread the seeds of this amazing science in a country where it is not very well known.
In August, Swami Karma Karuna was invited to spend time at Mangrove Mountain Ashram in Australia helping on the Yogic Studies 4 (teacher’s training). She relished the opportunity to share stories of our Gurus which brought much laughter and inspiration to the 50 attending in the room. She also shared tips on how to stay inspired as a teacher, taught early morning demo classes for the students, and mentored some of the students as they began teaching. It was also a time for a catch up and exchange of ideas with her peers. Swami Karma Karuna hopes to make this a yearly trip.
Both Swami Muktidharma and Swami Karma Karuna spent less time this year touring overseas and more time presenting seminars and sharing the teachings of Satyananda Yoga in centres around New Zealand, which reminded them of the old times touring the length and breadth of New Zealand in a van sharing yoga seminars! They both plan to gradually lessen their international programs in order to concentrate on the growing Anahata Yoga Retreat and New Zealand Satyananda Yoga community.
The recent retreat at Anahata for the visiting Japanese group (see Events) is an indication of things to come in the future, in which we plan to welcome more international groups to Anahata for sadhana courses like Chakra Sadhana, Yogic Lifetyle, Nada Yoga, Prana Vidya etc.
