Newsletter December 2013
Anahata Yoga Health and Education Trust (AYHET) has just been part of a wonderful collaboration sharing the Spirit of Golden Bay - the wonderful part of the South Island, New Zealand where we are privileged to be situated. It is a video to share this beautiful, unique and amazing destination. We hope you enjoy and come visit soon!
AYHET continues to support the development of those who wish to share the techniques and benefits of Satyananda Yoga within their communities. We currently have a very dedicated young man, Phoenix, wishing to study further in order to share what he has discovered through yoga. Read Phoenix's story below and if you feel you can assist him in completing his studies, we are appealing to your generous spirit to donate towards his cause.
My journey - by Phoenix Baynham
This journey began on October 27 1994 when a baby was born 3 months premature, weighing that of a block of butter and named Phoenix Tainui Baynham. That baby was me. 18 years on I found myself living a yogic lifestyle at Anahata Yoga Retreat. As a child growing up in society I often wondered what profession or career path I would decide to take, not once did I imagine I would be in such a perfect position where ancient practices embrace me as a soul and encourage me to grow and ultimately find peace inside.
The intuitive side of my mind sees myself as a seed in soil and yoga as the spring water and sunlight that slowly but surely nourishes me to flourish and blossom into a beautiful flower. Gratitude is experienced when bliss is subtly witnessed living amidst inspirational and supportive people, who work with you as an individual and embody the virtues Serve, Love, Give. Before coming here I was spiritually parched, consumed in consumerism and questioning our existence. Anahata is a modern day oasis, quenching our inner thirst, rejuvenating our flame within and exposing the self to an omnipresent splendor.
I will begin Yogic Studies in 2014, which will give me a deeper understanding of myself, different aspects of yoga and will also allow me to teach and share this blessing with others. The duration of the course is two years in total and for the most part the work will be done through correspondence whilst continuing to live at Anahata. We are currently fundraising money to contribute to the fees and flights to Mangrove/Rocklyn in Australia. All contributions are greatly appreciated. I am looking forward to this next stage of my life, who knows what fruits the future will bear? There is one thing I am certain of and that’s God is Good.
If you would like to support Phoenix and/or the ongoing work of the AYHET we have a payment option available on our website. Also visit our website for options on tax-deductible donations and making bequeathments to Anahata in your will.
