Laughing Yoga and non-stop kirtan were some of the highlights from this year's Nurturing Positivity retreat which kicked off the new year with positivity and peace.
This was followed by the weekend Mindfulness retreat with Swami Karma Karuna when we explored techniques to bring us back to the now. Kirtan King Chakradhyan came to stay in February and showed us the ins and outs, ups and downs of playing a stonking kirtan in his Kirtan and the Sacred Voice workshop. We celebrated with another 5-hour kirtanathon!
February also saw the return of neurophysiologist Swami Samnyasananda to Anahata. He lead two informative and inspirational retreats – Deepening our Spiritual Practice and Chakra Vidya. During Deepening our Spiritual Practice, Swami Samnyasananda emphasized the value of the yogic lifestyle and stressed that we can deepen whatever our spiritual practice is by bringing more mindful awareness to all our actions. He also brought in tasters of understanding of the physiological basis behind many of the practices that we do. The Chakra Vidya retreat explored the energy centres of the body through exercises combining art with meditation. Swami Samnyasananda also showed us how understanding of the chakras can provide insights into ourselves.
The Anahata team headed off the mountain to the Evolve Festival in mid Feb. We lead a diverse selection of workshops including Kidz Yoga and Heal Your Self.
In March, little messages extolling the virtues of mouna (silence) popped up all over the centre for the Silence retreat lead by Swami Gyan Dharma.
Swami Gyan Dharma also assisted through the Prana – the Path to Healing retreat with Swami Karma Karuna as we tuned into the energy within. Swami Karma Karuna guided us through the rarely-taught practices of Prana Vidya and Prana Nidra and Swami Gyan Dharma shared his wisdom in theory, Q+A and satsang sessions. We've also had several successful Explore Your 'Self' courses as well as a very unique Easter Weekend in which the swamis hiked to get down the hill to present the Yoga and Meditation retreat thanks to Cyclone Ita......
