Long awaited and finally arrived at the Anahata shop are many new books/titles. There have been some great and inspiring additions to the already comprehensive selection of books. The new Hatha Yoga series is one of those new titles, this series is made up of 8 books and are based on the teachings of Swami Sivananda and Swami Satyananda.
The first book gives an overview of Hatha Yoga providing the foundation for understanding the specific aspects addressed in the subsequent books. Book 2 describes an in-depth exploration of the influence of Hatha Yoga on the mind, to awaken and balance both the dynamic and mental energies in the body. The third book deals with the Shatkarmas; the yogic techniques for cleansing the inner body, traditionally regarded as essential preparation for higher sadhana. It also goes into the effects of these purification practices on general health and specific ailments.
Book 4, Asanas, the yoga postures, have become the international symbol of yoga. Their unique health-promoting qualities make asanas the perfect balance for modern lifestyles. Book 5 is on the subject of pranayama, recognising the importance of the breath, hatha yoga developed and refined the practices of pranayama, a unique system of techniques which use the breath as a tool to balance and expand the body's subtle energy, known as prana. In book 6 the subjects of mudra and bandha are described, they are important hatha yoga practices, they are techniques which specifically conserve and direct prana, the energy that powers the body and mind.
Book 7, Hatha Yoga and Health, gives more in-depth information on the application of hatha yoga for physical and mental health. The last book is a guide to sadhana in daily life and describes a collection of sadhanas (practice routines) for specific stages and needs of life, general well-being, women's health, children, teenagers, senior citizens, stress management and computer users.
In this series there is something of interest for everyone, you can choose the book on the subject that you need, or get the whole series, to transform and deepen your personal practice. The books are priced at $30 for each individual books 1-7 and $22 for book 8.
