Newsletter October 2015
Your support is appreciated to help us maintain our infrastructure, have the tools Anahata needs, and support students wishing to pursue Yogic Studies!
Our main house named “Surya”, meaning the sun, offers views of spectacular sunrises and is very much like the sun at Anahata. People receive nourishment in the form of incredible meals, a warm space to be, knowledge through gems in the library and our on-site shop. It is the heart of Anahata Yoga Retreat which all guests and residents visit at least 3 times a day!
In February, we had the generous donation of time from two wonderful builders Nirakara and Rameshwar, who were able to complete Stage 1 of Surya building repair. The side of the house was reclad, inside rooms painted, windows replaced with double glazing and a long time leaking issue fixed. The Surya bedrooms have been comfortable and warm and housing short-term volunteers all winter!!!! Thanks to kind donations of time and money, we are able to be sustainable by repairing, maintaining and upgrading our main house.
We are now planning Stage 2 of the Surya rebuild – to re-clad and repair the front as well as replace the windows - this has been estimated at a further $10,000, with an eventual Stage 3 to repair the kitchen as time and resources allow. Your support of this rebuild is needed and greatly appreciated so we can make sure our main house is healthy, strong, and sustainable for all who come. Everything small or large is of help.
1. Raising funds for a new Anahata Vehicle
In case you missed it in our last newsletter, we are continuing to raise funds for a new Anahata workhorse vehicle as the trusty "Grey Surf" has reached the end of its working life. Everything helps. Please use the Donate button below or contact us.
2. Yogic Studies Student Support Fund
We continue to raise funds to support students who wish to pursue Yogic Studies training.
One such student is Christoffel Hendrickx who spent many months at Anahata and has just completed his Level 2 training in Yogic Studies at Rocklyn Ashram, Australia. In the Living Yoga section, he shares some of his journey and inspirations gained from his time at Anahata, that have propelled him into Yogic Studies and realising his dream of writing a book.
